Our fierce Bonus Noise leader Edwin has just dropped a whole new album, and we figured it was the perfect opportunity to sit down with him to discover more.

How’s life been lately?
A bit like climbing a mountain, bumpy, enjoyable, tough at times, and the time flies but ultimately very rewarding because of the awesome views.
What’s the story behind the album title?
‘Universe 25’ is a 1970s science experiment where mice were built a utopia to live in, full of abundance so without any scarcity and any threats. The mice loved it at first, but their society collapsed eventually. I think it says a lot about humans too.

Which bands or artists were you listening to while writing the album?
Mostly toddler music as my two daughter hog all the music devices at home. But in between there was Tycho, the sound track of Stranger Things, Arcade Fire and lots of others!
What’s the best way for people to listen to the album? A specific time, place, or mood?
A sunny evening during autumn in a forest - hopefully while seeing a mouse or two!
Was there a piece of gear that shaped the album’s sonic identity?
The album is synthesizers, two in particular the Roland Juno 106 and Sequential OB6. But all songs also went through some old Apogee Rosetta converters, maybe giving it a bit of a 2000s sound.
Which track is your favorite, and why?
Mazes, in particular the ending featuring violins. There’s something about the long chord progression of that song that doesn't tire me and keeps it interesting even after hearing it on a loop.
What’s next for you after this release?
Hopefully slide down the mountain I climbed without too much effort, and make some new music along the way!
Thanks Ed! Universe 25, now available worldwide!
